Summer’s for living, right?

This Summer is looking to be the hottest on record. As exhausting as it is to be sat in these temperatures, there is always something to do! Take a look at my adventures so far this sizzling Summer 2026......

Idyllic yes? Travelling around in a campervan, seeing the sights and living it up…

The Reality…

The van is great, especially at this time of the year. With little rain to worry about at the moment, every day is pretty much the same.

A picture of tranquility. Feet up, chilling with a book….

NO!

This is not the reality, not currently anyway.

The heat is unbearable at the moment. I have to go out because there just isn’t enough shade. And when the temperature hikes up mid afternoon. Oh my word. It is stifling.

Do I have an awning? No.

Would it make a difference? No. Not in these temperatures.

Should I be by the coast? Probably. The coast is always just that bit cooler. But the problem is that everyone is there.

I like the solitude of my van. I don’t want to be completely by myself all the time, yet the peace and quiet is wonderful if you can find it.

Adventures so far….

Take a look at the snapshots of my latest outings……

What I found at the beach…

Just in case you missed this one. It’s taken at one of my favourite beaches. I won’t divulge which one as I don’t wish to cause alarm…..

Stretching outdoors.

Exercising on the beach is one of my best pastimes. It’s the freedom, the openness, the solitude I can get that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

Friends.

Catching up with friends, especially ones who have come back into your life after a huge gap, it’s the best, really it is.

Cycling – what it does for me.

You’ll know by now that my joints are not in the best of health. When I first reported my soreness and considerable aches and pains back in 2020, I was questioned as to why I wasn’t doing my cycling. Getting back to it helped me back then, so now I’ve decided to try again.

It’s not easy, none of this is. My knee gives way periodically, even on a bike. My back is so painful sometimes. But never one to give up, I will persevere.

Where to next?

Well, the heat is certainly determining where I travel this summer.

I really want to get into that sea and do some bodyboarding.

Let’s see where I end up next…..

Travel has taught me that even the smallest steps—like saying hello—can open doors to new friendships and unexpected adventures. Through my blog (and forthcoming book), I hope to inspire others to embrace their quirks, find strength in the ‘little wins’, and discover that the world has more possibilities than we ever imagined. If I can do it, anyone can.
